When the snow melts, the Silver Valley turns into a two-wheeled playground. Jackass Manor sits two blocks from the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, so you can ride straight from the front door, and guests tell us the secure storage area for bikes is a lifesaver.
Whether your crew is in town for a family trail ride, a mountain bike race or the famous Hiawatha, here’s how to make the most of a Kellogg summer.
The big three rides
There are three rides cyclists travel to Kellogg for. You can do all of them in one long weekend.
Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes
A smooth, paved 73-mile rail-trail running from Mullan to Plummer, right through Kellogg. Flat, family-friendly and gorgeous, with river views and wildlife. Ride a few miles or try the whole thing.
Route of the Hiawatha
About 15 gently downhill miles through 10 tunnels and over 7 towering trestles, including the 1.66-mile St. Paul Pass Tunnel. Bring lights, buy a trail pass, and take the shuttle back up.
Silver Mountain Bike Park
Lift-served downhill and flow trails that drop thousands of feet. Silver Mountain Bike Park hosted the North American Enduro Cup and USA Cycling Enduro National Championship in June 2026.
Summer fun for non-cyclists
Not everybody wants to pedal. Good news: there’s plenty more to do.
Gondola rides & Ride and Dine
Ride the gondola for mountain views. On summer Fridays, the Mountain House has served dinner with live local music. Check Silver Mountain for this year’s dates.
Silver Rapids Indoor Waterpark
An 84-degree indoor waterpark with slides, a lazy river and a FlowRider surf machine. Check Silver Mountain’s site for current admission rules.
Silver Mountain Brewsfest
A summer beer festival at the top of the gondola. In 2026 it landed on August 8, and admission included the gondola ride.
Wallace Huckleberry Festival
A free, decades-old festival in historic Wallace with a 5K, pancake breakfast and nearly 100 vendors, mostly selling things that are purple.
Kellogg’s 4th of July
Small-town Fourth done right, with a kids’ bike parade and a main parade through town.
Tips from the Manor
- Reserve summer event weekends (Hiawatha season, Brewsfest, huckleberry season) early.
- For the Hiawatha, bring a bright headlamp or bike light and a jacket. The tunnels are cold and very dark.
- Use the Manor’s storage area for bikes, and the washer and dryer for muddy kits.
- Fire up the gas grill on the patio after a long ride. The hot tub is good for sore legs in July too.
