Explore Kellogg & the Silver Valley
A small town with a very big backyard.
Kellogg sits on I-90 in North Idaho’s Silver Valley, 45 minutes east of Coeur d’Alene. Ski hill in town, rail-trail out the door, silver mines underfoot and huckleberries on everything.
Why Kellogg
The mountain town that hasn’t been discovered yet.
Most people blow past Kellogg on the interstate between Coeur d’Alene and Missoula. Their loss. This is a real mining town turned four-season basecamp: Silver Mountain’s 3.1-mile gondola leaves from the edge of town, the 73-mile Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes runs right through it, and historic Wallace is fifteen minutes up the road.
Jackass Manor is on the edge of uptown, a short walk from coffee, a brewery and dinner, and three minutes from the gondola. Below are our guides to the best of the area, written by people who actually go.

This was one of the best homes we have ever stayed in. … The hidden room behind the bookcase was a delightful surprise for all my kids! … If we tried to stay somewhere else I would be met with protests from my family.
This place was amazing. No detail was forgotten. … Nice extra touches were the Keurig with coffees and hot cocoa, basic cooking spices, … Robes, Games, books, Huge TV and reclining couch, Nice big family sized table. Finding the “hidden” bedroom was so fun for our 8 year old twins.
Great house and hosts! Beautiful design and fun location, our family had one of our best ski weekends ever staying here. Highly recommended!
Beautiful home! Owners thought of everything you could possibly need and more! Tons of space for our family, and so close to the mountain. Hot tub was a perfect end to the day after skiing.
… We were a group of 7 (including kids) & it always felt like there was plenty of room in the house. The amenities were perfect & the house was so clean & organized.
House is spacious, thoughtfully designed and great for adults and kids. Great location for mountain activities and the water park, walking distance to restaurants and coffee shops.
Thanksgiving weekend. Families from Seattle and Bozeman meeting halfway for 5 days. Skiing and waterpark.
The Jackass was perfect for our short stay, we had 5 adults and 5 kids. … Walkable distance to some restaurants and a brewery. Very close to the biking trail. … We are already talking about planning a ski trip so we can come back this winter.
Works great for a family! We had our son and daughter-in-law + the grand kids and the house worked out great!
