Legend says a stubborn little donkey led prospector Noah Kellogg to a fortune in silver. A whole town grew up around it. When the ski hill opened in 1968, they called it Jackass Ski Bowl. We named a house after it, and filled it with everything we’d want on a mountain weekend.

Welcome to the herd
We kept the name and the sense of humor, then gave this classic uptown Kellogg home a top-to-bottom remodel.
Brass fixtures and a navy chef’s kitchen. A chandelier over the dining table. A power-reclining leather sectional big enough for the whole crew. And a touch of old Victorian charm still hiding in the corners, including one corner that hides an entire bedroom.
The kids claim the bunkhouse, the grown-ups claim the hot tub, and everybody claims they’ll come back next year. Most of them do.

Out back
Steam, stars and sore ski legs. It sits right outside the French doors, and the robes are already waiting.

Main floor
Pull the right shelf and a hidden king suite appears. Kids lose their minds. Grown-ups do too.

The heart of it
Gas range, farmhouse sink, brass fixtures, island seating and a Keurig stocked with coffee and cocoa.

Upstairs
Five twin XL bunks that fit real adults, and a Terminator 2 arcade cabinet for settling family scores.

Three full baths
Black clawfoot tub, brass rain shower, marble tile. Nobody waits in line for the bathroom here.
Kellogg, every season
Powder days, trail days, elk camp and huckleberry season. Pick your reason. We’ll keep the hot tub warm.

The film
Snowy rooftops, a steaming hot tub and every room in between. Grab a cocoa first.

This is our group’s 3rd year in a row to Jackass Manor and we love it! We don’t ever want to stay anywhere else for our annual girls ski trip. … Hot tub is great after a long day on the mountain.
This was one of the best homes we have ever stayed in. … The hidden room behind the bookcase was a delightful surprise for all my kids! … If we tried to stay somewhere else I would be met with protests from my family.
This place was amazing. No detail was forgotten. … Nice extra touches were the Keurig with coffees and hot cocoa, basic cooking spices, … Robes, Games, books, Huge TV and reclining couch, Nice big family sized table. Finding the “hidden” bedroom was so fun for our 8 year old twins.
Great house and hosts! Beautiful design and fun location, our family had one of our best ski weekends ever staying here. Highly recommended!

The name is a throwback to Silver Mountain’s original name. The ski area opened in 1968 as Jackass Ski Bowl, after the legend of prospector Noah Kellogg’s donkey, which is said to have led him to the silver ore that started the Bunker Hill mine in 1885.
